bareMinerals Get Started Complexion Kit | Review

Hello, today I'm going to be reviewing the bareMinerals 'get started complexion kit'. I received this as a gift from my dad quite a while ago and thought I'd share my thoughts on it with you.

To start, this is what the packaging looks like, I actually think they've changed the packaging now, but I like this one, its lasted well not broken, just covered in makeup. The box is made of cardboard, this makes it light if you were going to a friends or out and wanted to take this, i'd be light to carry. It also easily closes, and stays closed, I hate the boxes that are difficult to shut, and when you eventually do shut them, the open throughout the day.

The back of the box talks about the products inside, it mainly consists of talking about the 'perfect foundation', and also gives you figures of what other women say about bareMinerals. I like that it talks about both of these. As if you were buying the product you'd want to know a bit about it and what other people think of the brand.

I also like how there are 'before and after' images of women wearing the products. This gives you an idea of what they coverage is like, and what the products able to cover.

On both sides of the packaging it discusses each individual product. This allows you to know what the package contains, what your getting for your money, and what each product is used for. I find it useful it include images of the products it lets us see what the products will look like. This also includes the shade of each product, so if you wanted to later buy a single product from this kit, you know what color you used before.

This is what the product looks like when you first open it. (This does also come with a DVD to tell you about the products, but I seem to have misplaced this, but it's okay as I already watched it once, so I know what it included.)

Brushes
This kit comes with 3 brushes each used for a different purpose.

1 - the flawless face/application brush

This brush is made for a light coverage. At the tip of the brush each hair on the brush is very thin and sparse, with it being dense at the other end, making the brush not pick up much product. I usually use this for the powder. However if I was having a good skin day, I'd probably use this product to apply the foundation as well.

However I like to use this product for powdering as it still makes your skin appear dewy and not very matte, while controlling the oils on your skin which I like.

This brush alone is £19 which is quite pricey alone but it is included in this kit, which is great seen as it is an award winning brush.

2 - full flawless face brush

This brush is my personal favorite of the three, it is used on all the same products as the flawless face brush, however the hairs on it are much more dense and the brush is slightly smaller, allowing it to pick up a lot of product. The hairs on this are very smooth on the skin and it applies product beautifully.

I liked to use this to apply the foundation, I apply the foundation in a circular motion as I feel this gives the nicest finish to your skin. I would not use this brush to apply a powder as it will make your skin look very matte which I personally don't like, but if you do then by all means use this brush.

This product is a best seller of bareMinerals, and it comes at a high price of £24. But I love this brush and would highly recommend it if your looking for a brush that gives you a high coverage.

3 - full coverage concealer brush

This brush is amazing for blending in any concealer. It looks and feels a lot like a mini flat foundation brush and it gives you a really high amount of coverage. The hairs of this brush are extremely thick and smooth and it feels so lovely and gentle against the skin.

The brush is a nice size and can cover up any blemish or discoloration you may suffer from. The allows you to easily brush or dab (depending on what works best for you) on whatever your trying to conceal.

This brush costs £14 but I have to say it defiantly feels expensive on the skin, and gives a high amount of coverage.

Makeup
The kit comes with four different products, which are all different.

1 - Foundation

This product has to be my favorite in the kit, and one that I will be repurchasing. This foundation is incredible. At first I didn't think I would like a powder foundation but its actually really good. The foundation does a really good job on coverage, depending on which brush you decide to use. But what I really love about this product is that, as I suffer with sensitive skin and a lot of products tend to not agree with my skin. This doesn't irritate my skin, it feels light and like I have nothing on my face, but the coverage of a foundation is like any other foundation you would normally get.

The tub of these products are great as you just have to twist the product and pour out whatever amount of product you need into the lid, it helps you save as much product as possible and as these are all powders the don't end up going everywhere.

This foundation costs £25 which isn't too bad compared the price of some other high end foundations, this is totally worth it, especially if you suffer from sensitive skin.

2 - Bronzer

I find I done use this product enough. I do actually really love it. But with most bronzers I use them to contour my face, and when contouring you don't want to use a shimmery bronzer as this will take away from the shadow effect. However this product is great for a 'sunkissed' look, it appears very natural on the skin and bland beautifully. The color pay off is great and its a nice consistency of bronze.

Again this product has the twisted applicator so you done end up using too much, but especially with this product, less is more, and a little goes a long way, so you don't need to much when applying this.

If you were to purchase this product separately it would cost £19 and its now called the 'warmth all over face color'.

 3 - Concealer
This product is amazing at covering blemishes, however I would not recommend this product for dark circles. Although this product is made for hiding dark circles, as it has now been named 'well rested eyes'. But I found using a powder concealer made my dark circles look more noticeable  my dark circles may just be super dark, or this may be the wrong color for my skin tone, but I didn't like how it made my under eyes look.

However this concealer is amazing for hiding blemishes, not only does it hide them, but this product is healthier for your skin over a ordinary concealer. It doesn't make the blemish any worse by coating it in makeup. It just hides it until its gone on its own.

To show you how well this product conceals, I desided to do..
 The concealer test

So here I have shown you how well this product hides the mark of a marker pen, it actually does a great job, this is after only 2 coats (using a dabbing motion).

This product is £19 which is quite a lot, and I honestly don't know if its worth that amount when you can get something a similar price that your also able to use under your eyes in benefit or even the drugstore.

 4 - Mineral Veil (Powder)

I actually really like this product, but I've sadly almost ran out, its a setting powder for the rest of the products. It feels so light and gentle, as you can hopefully see by the photo of the product on the lid, the powder is much more fine over the others. If your looking for a very light powder I would defiantly recommend this one.

Unfortunately if you wanted to buy this product it is £20, which is pretty expensive but it is an excellent product, but it more depends on how much your willing to spend on a powder.

Overall I love this box and if you'd rather purchase all these products rather than them separate its £49 but they have replaced the concealer with a primer, which I wouldn't mind as I don't personally think this is a great concealer compared to even some drugstore ones. The products in the box come to a value of £108 so you do save a lot of money purchasing this. I think I would recommend this if your skin doesn't agree with many products as I found it worked well for me.

Comment bellow if you've tried anything from bareMinerals and what it was like, or if not what you'd like to try

October Favourites! | Alanah's

Hello! Today I am here with some of my favourite products and things during October.  I have a mixture of Fashion, Beauty and Random things to show you.  There isn't loads but they're just a few things I would recommend trying and that I have recently (re)discovered.

I have tried to link any items I can.  Hope you enjoy!

Beauty

TRESemmé hair products
So this month I have been using 3 different TRESemmé hair products in the shower.  They are:
- TRESemmé Luxurious Moisture Shampoo | For dry or dull hair

First off I would like to say that using all your hair products from the same brand really does seem to make a difference.
They really work well together to make my hair lovely and soft.
The shampoo and conditioner are what I use on a daily basis (well.. every other day) and I usually do 2 washes of shampoo (but thats just because I have thick hair).

My hair isn't actually dry or dull (apart from the ends) but it usually gets a little limp, and sometimes a little dry but after one use of the shampoo and conditioner it really showed a difference on my hair.
Another plus is that these 900ml bottles last for ages!

I usually use the heat mask about once a week, however you can use it more often if you like.
The texture of this is like a thick conditioner (When using this you do not need to use conditioner also).
On the pot it says to keep it in for about 5 minutes but I usually do about 30 minutes because I like to go and watch something whilst its on.
This has definitely been improving my hair and I can see a massive difference in the ends of my hair from where they were heat damaged.
If you would like to see a full review of this, comment below!

Sephora Glossy Gloss | 04 Maple Syrup
I bought this lip gloss last year when I went to Italy on holiday, I love the Sephora own brand and I own 3 of these lipglosses now!
I lost this lipgloss and have recently found it in my coat pocket from last year haha, so I was very happy to see it.
I love the color of this to go over a lipstick (such as the one I will show you next) as it doesn't give too much color but it creates a warm tone to the lips which I think is lovely for the Autumn.
The sparkles are also very pretty and its nice a moisturising, not too sticky!

Elizabeth Arden Lipstick | Perfect Rose 18
I am wearing this lipstick almost every day recently, I think it is perfect if you want to try a bit of a darker lip but don't want to go straight in for the really dark colors.
I got this ages ago but they do still have similar shades (Just with nicer packaging!) if you would like to have a look.
The texture is very nice a goes on smoothly, so this is my absolute favourite lipstick for the moment, I want to try and get a darker one soon though!

Sleek Eyeshadow Palette | Ultra Mattes v2 Darks
So.. I have mentioned this palette a few times before.  I bought it a couple of weeks ago and I love it sooo much! The colors are perfect for Autumn and look great mixed in with some neutral colors.
I mentioned this in my Mini Makeup Haul a couple weeks back where I go into a little more detail.
Soon I am going to be doing some eye looks with this palette as I think there are so many combinations.
I have been using at least one color from this palette every day since I bought it (well.. days I wear makeup).
I definitely recommend picking this up, or any of the Sleek palettes as they are great value for money.

Calvin Klein One Shock | For her
I got this perfume last year for Christmas so it always reminds me of Winter when I wear it.  I wore it less during the Summer as I prefer body mists in the Summer as opposed to perfumes.
So recently I have rediscovered this and I am wearing it every day again!
It is a big bottle (200ml) so it is lasting forever which I love.
I love the scent of this perfume as it is not too strong but you can definitely still smell it.  I'm not sure how to describe it but you can see a description here.
Definitely recommend this perfume it's beautiful!

Simple Face Products | Kind To Skin
I have used the Simple kind to skin toner for quite a while now but have only recently picked up the cleansing lotion that goes with it.
I have to say (like the shampoo and conditioner) using the same brand really makes a difference.
The 2 work perfectly together and definitely make my skin feel softer and together they remove all of my makeup.
The toner is not greasy at all and feels very refreshing on my face.
If the cleanser gets in your eyes at all it doesn't sting which is nice (but I would still recommend washing it out haha..)
Definitely recommend these 2 products!

Fashion

Statement Necklaces
Absolutely love wearing these with big chunky jumpers as a lot of mine are quite plain and a necklace definitely helps to add something to the outfit.  You can also get these quite cheap which is great and they can definitely change an outfit from what it would look like with a different necklace.
I am trying to add more statement necklaces to my collection for the Winter!

 Random

Graze Snack Boxes!
I used a code I got through with my Boohoo order a while ago to order myself a free Graze box.  These are boxes that come through your door and you can choose for them to come Weekly, Fortnightly or Monthly.
I get mine Weekly as my first and fifth boxes were free so I decided to give it a go.
They are full of healthy but tasty snacks which you can rate online with bin/try/like/love to let them know what you want in your box.
Some snacks include;
- Olives (different flavours)
- Dried fruit mixtures (often with chocolate/mini cookies)
- Flapjacks and Brownies (My favourites...)
- Crackers/Oat Bakes with different dips and chutneys.
- Nuts and seeds (Often with other things too)
- Popcorn (Different flavours)

And there are lots more.
They are lovely to get home from school to and they cost £3.89 each.

Halloween Tag

Hello! So I know it's a day late but I thought it may still be fun to do, so here is the Halloween tag! I tag you all to do this.

1. What is your favorite Halloween movie?

I would say one of the Halloweentown movies that they play on Disney channel, and of course any Horror films. I love Horror films like the Saw films, Final Destination films, insidious etc..

2. 1-10, how much do you enjoy Halloween?

It really depends what I am doing but honestly I would probably say 10! Just because I love doing Halloweeny makeup and trick or treating  (yes I still trick or treat)

3. What's your fondest Halloween memory?

I have quite a lot, last year was nice but yesterday (so Halloween this year) me and some friends went to this Haunted house thing which was scary, and then we went trick or treating and some guy gave us a beer and that was pretty funny hahaha

(We are outside Wickes because we were looking for a toilet.. hahaha)

4. Have you always been a Halloween lover?
Yeaaah I'm pretty sure I have! Think I've trick or treated every year...

5. How do you get into the Halloween spirit?
Do my makeup all dark and carve pumpkins!

6. Favorite Halloween decorations?
Pumpkins and we have these little ghost fairy lights which are cute, here is my pumpkin!

7. Favorite halloween/fall scent?
My absolute favourite candle that I own is actually by Air Wick who make air fresheners.  It is one of their colour changing candles so its really cool but the scent of it is called 'Mulled Wine and Cinnamon Apples' and it's sooo lovely and smells just like Autumn/Halloween.

8. Favorite candy?
I love drumstick lollies, anything sour, chewy sweets like moams and Haribo tangfastics are my favourites.  I do prefer chocolate though so I love getting little treat size chocolate bars and things.

9. Vampires or zombies?
Umm well I prefer zombie films.. but I would rather be face to face with a vampire (As long as it wasn't going to like suck my blood)

10. What is your weird/odd fear?
I genuinely don't know what I am scared of which is annoying because I don't really have a fear... but oh well ;)

11. Last but not least, do you believe in ghosts?
Yeaaah I do actually!

Anyway that's the end for this tag!  I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you all had a great Halloween yesterday (or whenever it was for you).
I tag everyone reading this to do this tag! Please link it below in the comments if you did/do.

Let me know in the comments what you dressed up as if you did!

Happy Halloween!

I really liked my eye makeup for Halloween but I forgot to take a photo.. :(

October Favorites | Sarah's

Hello, wow so its really been a month since Alanah and I started this blog, its flown by and I love doing it! I'm going to show you my favorite products and things for this month, there's not to many but I thought I'd show you these little bits.

First is this Jack Wills Body Butter in the scent English Velvet I got this quite a while ago and I used to obsessed with Jack Wills and I loved this body butter, and I honestly don't know why I ever stopped using it! The smell of this body butter is unimaginable it's my favorite scent of the moment. It just smells of Autumn to me. Its quite a musky smell and slightly floraly, and I don't normally like floral scents but this is just amazing.

The texture of this body butter is super thick and creamy. This makes it really moisturizing on your body and its very easy to spread evenly. Allowing you to only use the amount you actually need. Which in my opinion is great as you can save as much as possible.

This product dry's on your body quickly but keeps it feeling smooth and moisturized. It then doesn't leave a sticky residue which is great as it means you don't have to stand there for ages waiting for your body to dry.

Because I love this scent so much I bought the perfume of the same scent. So I'm all sorted, if you were to buy this now they've changed the packaging to a very boring transparent bottle with some writing on *cry*. But in the bottle is the same product.

The packaging this came in is absolutely beautiful. It comes in a box as any perfume normally would. But the bottle itself sits in this silk lined pillow. It makes the product look like its very important and expensive. I loved the packaging so much that it sits in the packaging still on my bedside table for everyone to see.

I would highly recommend purchasing this for autumn or just go into a Jack Wills store and ask to smell this scent you wont regret it, I promise you.

I also love the mirror on the bottles lid! Can you spot me!

This next favorite is having winged eyeliner. This eyeliner is amazing its from Bourjois and has sadly been discontinued, I don't know how I will cope when this runs out! But I think use what works best for you.

I've been doing my eyeliner flicked out non-stop all Autumn. I love the look it gives and I actually love applying it in the morning (which some people would probably hate doing, aha).

This certain one has a tiny brush so it therefore gives you excellent precision. It also dries really quickly so you don't have to worry about waiting for ages until you can curl your lashes.

If anyone knows where I can still purchase this product or one that sounds similar to it please let me know!

I've briefly spoken about this product before but not in much depth. I heard about this product from Fleur from fleurdeforce on YouTube. She was saying how its very similar to Bioderma. I've been wanting to try Bioderma for ages but I cant find it, I dont think you can get it in the UK yet, but I have a feeling they're coming here soon.

Anyways I gave this a go and I actually really like it, it removes your makeup so easily and you don't have to rub it off your face vigorously, as this can damage your skin. Simply just pour some of the product onto a cotton pad and when removing eye makeup, hold this on your eyes for around 10-20 seconds and wipe away and your makeup should be almost gone, may have to repeat to be on the safe side as, this isn't as good as Bioderma looks but its still a great product.

The one negative about this product is the bottle. as it's square with a small hole to receive the product, I end up pouring out to much product and it tends to spill or I end up with a very wet face. So if you purchase this be sure to tip out as little product as possible as it goes a long way and remember you can always add on.

This next product has been a life savior for me these past few days. I get  really dry hands as the weather starts to get colder and sometimes they can be so bad they start to bleed. So I always need a hand cream on me in cold weather. This has been the best one I've tried and its the Soap & Glory hand food. This stuff is amazing!

Its a very creamy texture and lasts for ages. It doesn't feel greasy when you apply it, just very smooth. Also this smells incredible, It reminds me of playdoh (which I do like the smell of). For me if a product was amazing but didn't smell nice I wouldn't use it. The scent of a product is a very high factor that I take into account. Its quite a sweet scent and not very Wintery. But I need this in the Winter so I'm not going to complain. It says on the bottle; "Non-greasy hydrating hand cream with shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow". So go smell this next time your in Boots, I promise you wont regret it.

Finally my top favorite of this month, has to be blogging every day. Although I've only been blogging for a month I love it, and enjoy doing it so much. Now although I've loved posting everyday me and Alanah both go to college and are studying for our A-Levels so we cant post every day every month. However we will still be posting frequently so dont worry!

I want to thank each one of our followers we love all 20 of you! I took a picture of me with you, hope you like it! Please keep commenting as me and Alanah will always reply.

Comment below your favorite beauty product of this month.
