Christmas wishlist 2013 | Alanah's

Hello! So.. we haven't posted for a couple weeks - we have both been very busy with school so we apologize for that.  Now we are on our christmas holidays hopefully we will be posting more often! 5 days to go til christmas aaaaah!

Anyway, here is my christmas wishlist - I haven't really asked for a main present this year, just little bits but I hope I can give you inspiration (even though I know it may be a little late now!)

1. Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette | £37

I have never tried a Naked Palette but always wanted to, I think that the third one looks really pretty and I love the pinky colors in it.

2. Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Flash Extensions Mascara | £10.50

I absolutely love Soap & Glory mascaras but haven't tried this one so fingers crossed it's good!

3. MAC Lipstick in ‘Sandy B’ | £15

I mentioned this in my makeup wishlist a while back and haven't got round to buying it again, so christmas is the perfect excuse!

4. Sleek Face Contour Kit (Light) | £6.49 
 Looking forward to trying this kit it looks beautiful!

5. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter (‘Sweet Tart’ and ‘Sorbet') | £7.99

I've only had one of these and I loved it, so why not ask for a couple more ay?

6. Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm (‘Pink Punch’ ‘Peach Kiss’ ‘Mint Fresh’) | £2.99 

I had 2 of these.. and then left them in The Harvester (restaurant) aha, I loved them though!

Just my everyday eyeliner!

8. Jimmy Choo Perfume 40ml  | £33.50 

Perfect smell! I've tried a few samples of this and I love it so much. 

 

Fashion

1. Bershka Fur collar jacket (Medium Grey) | £69.99

I haven't actually asked for this for christmas because I've only just found it, but I am planning on buying it after Christmas because I absolutely love it!

2. Gilly Hicks Red Plaid Bra | £14.99 at the moment!

I love this pattern so why not have it on a bra? Also Gilly Hicks bras are so so comfy and I recommend checking them out - they are all for sale at £14.99 at the moment!

3. Black Timberland Boots | Around £120 I think

I love Timberlands and have wanted them for aaaages. I decided to opt for the Black as I tend to wear much more black than brown. Also they're different to the original brown Timberlands which I like.  I think they will go with a lot of things and I am really looking forward to wearing them (If I get them)

4. Jewelry | Varied prices

I have asked for jewelry and given my mum a few examples of what I like just to give her an idea.  I just need a bit more really.. not too fussed what it is. (Necklaces, Bracelets, Earrings, Rings...)

5.  Topshop Textured V Neck Top (Bottle) | £16

I have a grey one of these and I love it, it's not too cropped and the pattern is very pretty. The green one looks lovely too.  I have also just asked for 'tops' in general because my Mum is usually pretty good at picking things out for me.

6. Deena & Ozzy New Strappy Satchel | £30-£40 (Now out of stock)

I needed a smaller black bag as the one I have is pretty big, so this one will be great for going out shopping etc..

Random!

1.  New York wallpaper | Around £40 on eBay (but you can bid on them too)

I am wanting to redecorate my bedroom and I think this would look soo cool on a bedroom wall, I also love New York so why not!

2. Gift Cards (Topshop, Gilly Hicks etc)

There are a few things I would like to pick out myself so from other family members I thought it could be nice to get giftcards and then I can chose what I like.

3. Earphones

I just need some more because I keep breaking my old ones.. woooops!

4. Guitar Capo and Strings

Just need some new ones!

5. FOOOOD! 

Mainly M&M's because they're my favourite, but I have also asked for some Lindors and Nerds.  They will make good stocking fillers I think.

6. Blonde highlights

Obviously I can't get these on christmas, just maybe a gift card or something - or a booking to get them done in a salon.  

7. TV box for my TV

I have a TV.. but no box for it so I can't actually watch anything on it at the moment haha..

 

Okay so that's everything!

Now obviously I am not going to get all of this, but I like to give a lot of options and this is for my whole family I presume.  Also, my Mum likes to give surprises at christmas so she doesn't get everything on our lists.

Halloween Tag

Hello! So I know it's a day late but I thought it may still be fun to do, so here is the Halloween tag! I tag you all to do this. 

1. What is your favorite Halloween movie?

I would say one of the Halloweentown movies that they play on Disney channel, and of course any Horror films. I love Horror films like the Saw films, Final Destination films, insidious etc..

2. 1-10, how much do you enjoy Halloween?

It really depends what I am doing but honestly I would probably say 10! Just because I love doing Halloweeny makeup and trick or treating  (yes I still trick or treat)

3. What's your fondest Halloween memory?

I have quite a lot, last year was nice but yesterday (so Halloween this year) me and some friends went to this Haunted house thing which was scary, and then we went trick or treating and some guy gave us a beer and that was pretty funny hahaha

(We are outside Wickes because we were looking for a toilet.. hahaha)

4. Have you always been a Halloween lover?

Yeaaah I'm pretty sure I have! Think I've trick or treated every year...

5. How do you get into the Halloween spirit? 

Do my makeup all dark and carve pumpkins!

6. Favorite Halloween decorations?

Pumpkins and we have these little ghost fairy lights which are cute, here is my pumpkin! 

7. Favorite halloween/fall scent?

My absolute favourite candle that I own is actually by Air Wick who make air fresheners.  It is one of their colour changing candles so its really cool but the scent of it is called 'Mulled Wine and Cinnamon Apples' and it's sooo lovely and smells just like Autumn/Halloween.

8. Favorite candy?

I love drumstick lollies, anything sour, chewy sweets like moams and Haribo tangfastics are my favourites.  I do prefer chocolate though so I love getting little treat size chocolate bars and things.

9. Vampires or zombies?

Umm well I prefer zombie films.. but I would rather be face to face with a vampire (As long as it wasn't going to like suck my blood)

10. What is your weird/odd fear?

I genuinely don't know what I am scared of which is annoying because I don't really have a fear... but oh well ;)

11. Last but not least, do you believe in ghosts?

Yeaaah I do actually!

What's in my bag? | College Edition

Hello! Today I am going to show you what is in my College bag at the moment!  I have taken this stuff straight out of my bag (Apart from the makeup) from school so it is exactly what I have in my bag at the moment! Hope you enjoy.

I have tried to put links to any products where I can.

So first off, here is my bag! It is from River Island and it's black with a snakeskin looking pattern and it has Gold hardware.  I love this bag because it's black and goes with everything I own, also it is a great size for college and fits everything in it!

Next are my folders.  At the moment I only use 2 folders for the subjects I am studying but I imagine that soon I will need to purchase another one (as I will have more work oh). These take up one half of my bag. I also have my anthology for English which is full of lovely poems that I have to annotate...

Here I have;

1. Some books that I am reading/studying at the moment (Well I should be..) for English.  These include:  In Cold Blood, The Catcher in the Rye and Frankenstein.

2. An umbrella - for the lovely rain here in England!

3. An old magazine that I am currently using for Media.

Next is my makeup bag.

 I'm pretty sure its from Boots and it is a nice size with roses on it.  Here is what makeup I usually take to school with me:

- Glowfusion Bronzer

- Collection Pressed Powder

- Jean Paul Gaultier Brow Definer

- Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

- Mac Select Cover Up Concealer

- Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer

- Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Mascara

- Powder/Bronzer Brush (I use this for both at school)

- Foundation Brush

I take it all to school with me because I usually need at least one thing out of the lot, so I thought I may as well take it all haha.. 

 

Here are a few more beauty products I take with me.

Usually I will take whatever lipstick I am wearing that day, there is usually always a lipgloss somewhere in my bag so I just rely on that one. Also I now take a lipbalm as its colder and my lips get dry in the cold. Here I have:

- Clarins Gloss Appeal Lipgloss in 05 Hibiscus

- Kiko Pencil Lip Gloss in 07 Baby Pink

- Jean Paul Gaultier lip balm in 02

My Pencil Case!

This pencil case is from Paperchase.  In it I have a selection of pens, pencils and other stationary (How interesting!..)

Next some random things!

1. My Purse.  I keep my money and cards in here (I probably shouldn't take this to school as I spend it all on food and hot drinks from the Starbucks at our school...).  This purse is from River Island.

2. Some hair bands and Bobby Pins just in case I get bored of the hairstyle i'm wearing or feel like putting my hair up!

3.  Haha, this popcorn is in my bag because I was trying to make it at school but I haven't managed to find someone let me use their microwave yet.. This packet is from Graze.

A few more random things...

1. Fragrance mist.  I love keeping one of these in my bag for a quick refresh throughout the day.  I got it in New York and every time I smell it it reminds me of New York which I love!  It's called 'Very Sexy Touch'  from Victoria's Secret and I love it so much.

2. Headphones, these are great in college as we are allowed to listen to music a lot.

3. Compact mirror.  Great for quickly checking your face (often when I accidently draw on it..)

 And that's everything!  Except for this random stuff at the bottom of my bag.. A lot of chocolate wrappers. Woopsie - I need to clear this out.

Tag | Why Do I Wear Makeup?

Hello! We were tagged to do this by Chelsea from tigerlovebeauty so thank you for tagging us and definitely check out her blog!

1. When did you begin loving makeup?

Sarah | I would say only quite recently I started wearing makeup when I was about 12/13 but not enough to say I loved it, then it was just something I used to make myself look a bit nicer.

Alanah | The same as Sarah, I only really started having more of an interest and loving makeup maybe around a year ago, but I starting wearing it earlier than that. 

2. How do you feel without makeup?

Sarah | Depends where I am and who I'm with, if I was just with friends at one of our houses or something then I'd feel normal, but out in public I'd probably feel quite self conscious. I wish I felt confident enough to go out with a bare face, but I'm sadly not.

Alanah | Again the same as Sarah, with friends at someones house I would feel totally fine without makeup on but if I was out say shopping I would at least have to have a little bit on to feel confident.

3. What do you like about makeup?

Sarah | To me, make is like a piece of clothing without it I feel onside, and I love mix and matching with colours and brands. Using make-up is like a hobby and it just makes me feel a bit better about myself wearing it.

Alanah | I love how many different looks you can make with different eye and lip colors.  I think it's fun to experiment and see what looks best on you, I love applying it and choosing new things to buy.  I also love it because it makes me feel waay more confident by covering up any insecurities and enhancing features like my eyes.

4. Three holy grail items:

             2- Benefits they're real mascara (makes my lashes look amazing)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation | Review

Hello, today I'm going to be reviewing Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay in Place Foundation. Hope its helpful and you enjoy.

 I asked in the store for the sample size as I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy the full size bottle, encase my skin reacted badly to it, or just encase I didn't like it. It retails at £28.50. Now this foundation has SPF 10 which isn't too high, but better than none. It claims to stay on for 15 hours, and has a medium but buildable coverage. It also says it has a semi matte finish which I like because I prefer to have a dewy finish to completely matte.

First I'm going to start with a fresh clean face, I was just in the shower so I now have a clean face and also wet hair as I like to leave my hair to air dry. But starting with a clean face allows me to see how the foundation looks on my bare skin. It helps me to make sure the color matches my skin tone, and how well its covers discoloration and blemishes on its own.

I am going to apply the foundation using the real techniques expert face brush, as I find this brush works best for me, I've done a review on it in a previous post, see it here if you haven't seen it already.

When I removed the lid I noticed it came with a small applicator, but i didn't want to use this so I just wiped the excess onto my face..

..and blended it into my skin, the first thing that I noticed was that the lady in the store matched this shade to my skin perfectly, also the coverage wasn't too high so I did build it, because I've been ill lately my skins really taken its toll. Its become very dry and it just needs a bit of help lately, so I needed higher coverage today.

 

After this I poured the rest of the product I would need onto my hand and blended it onto my face and down to my neck. Its important to also cover some of your neck as this makes sure there's no foundation line on your jaw line.

I first found that this foundation looked stunning on, it matched my skin perfectly and gave a great coverage. I didn't put on any concealer as I wanted to see how the foundation would cope on my skin on its own. I also found I didn't need any concealer the coverage after a few coats is amazing. It covers my dark circles and blemishes nicely so they're practically unnoticeable.

However I did put on a light coat of powder just to control the oils on my skin. So far I really like the look of this foundation on my skin, It feels so light yet gives such good coverage.

I then did the rest of my makeup, and waited to see how it would cope throughout the day. This was then 12:30, so I thought I'd take images later in the day to let you know how the foundation want looking.

This photo was taken at 4:00 and it looks the exact same as earlier if I'm honest I was thinking it would of smudged slightly but it hadn't done at all, it still felt so light and the coverage was still up there, but I could start to see a few blemishes and my dark circles starting to show though so I think if I was to purchase this I would need to use concealer for blemishes and dark circles.

This photo was taken at 8:00 and I have to say this foundation has to be one of the best I've tried. I discovered I would definitely have to use a concealer thought as I've found that the high coverage doesn't last for an overly long time. But it does last a lot longer than a drugstore foundation, I haven't found a drugstore like this so I cant compare. It just makes my skin look beautiful all day, might have to purchase the full size.

Autumn/Fall Makeup look | FOTD

Hello! Here is a quick makeup look that I wore today.  I thought it looked quite Autumnal and so decided I would share it with you.  Hope you like it!

All of my face make up is just the same as it is everyday, 

which is explained in my 'FOTD | Daily Makeup' post.

As you can see it's a pretty neutral eye look, I've used a few different shades of brown and a mossy green colour to add a tiny bit of color.  The colors I have used are:

 '40 Khaki' by No7 (Just above my crease)

'Mineral Earth' (In my crease) and 'Regal' (In my outer corner) from the sleek palette 'Au Naturel' I definitely recommend this palette it's one of my favourites.

A goldy shade from an old Elizabeth Arden Palette (On my lid)

Mossy green shades especially suit Hazel and Green eyes, dark purple also looks nice!

On my lips I am wearing a purple toned lipstick.  It is the same as the one I have mentioned in 'My top 5 drugstore products' post.  Its a lovely colour and perfect for the Fall/Autumn, as I have said in my past post - it's also a great formula and goes on the lips smoothly.  The pigmentation is perfect, it's not too heavy on the purple which I like because I don't think I could wear a full on purple lip.
