My Beauty Wishlist | Autumn/Fall 2013

Hello! Hope you are all goood, sorry I haven't posted in a couple days - I am soo busy with college its crazy.  So anyway, today I have my wishlist of beauty products that I have been wanting to try/get my hands on in time for the Winter.  Hope you enjoy!

Obviously I couldn't take photos myself as I do not yet own them, photo credits will be listed underneath.

1. Mac Lipstick in the shade 'Sandy B'.

I've only owned 2 Mac lipsticks in my life and I've somehow managed to lose both of them.. typical me really.  'Sandy B' was the first one i bought and I loved it so now I am looking to buy myself another one.

On the website it is described as a 'light shell pink' and it is a 'Frost' lipstick.  I really like this because it creates just the right amount of sheen to your lips along with a 

very natural color.

2. Sleek EyeShadow I Divine Palette in 'Oh So Special'

I absolutely love Sleek eyeshadow palettes and so far I own 2 (woooo) which i use regularly.  This palette contains some girly shades such as pinks and purples. 
 I want this palette because I don't really wear pink on my eyelids and I would like to give it a try.  I also really love the look of the dark blues and purples in this palette.

3. Topshop Highlighter in 'Crescent Moon'
I saw this highlighter reviewed on Jane from poptartsbeauty blog and it looks really pretty.  I have never really owned a decent highlighter and I think this one looks perfect for £9 with student discount to give highlighters a try!

4. Topshop Lipstick in 'Wicked'
This color is soo perfect for Winter, I've been looking for one this color so I am very much looking forward to buying this.  I have also never tried a Topshop lipstick and I have heard very good things about them so I will let you know how it is.

5. Babyliss Pro Perfect Curl
I dont actually own a curling iron - which is surprising considering I curl my hair a lot, but I just use a straightening iron!  That does work however sometimes hair gets a bit stuck and I have been on the look out for a curler, this new one seems soo fun to be honest.  It makes perfect curls, sucks your hair up in to it and is super fast (so I've heard) so what more would I want! Haha, anyway this item is rather expensive so will definitely have to be one I save up for - but it definitely looks worth it.

6. Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara
My Mum has this mascara and I love it so much, it works really well on my eyelashes and gives them loads of volume.  I hadn't really heard much about this mascara before but for me it gave lots of volume and the brush really spread apart my lashes making sure they weren't clumpy.  So I am looking to buy this, actually copying my Mum for once!

Halloween Makeup | Possessed Doll

Happy Halloween! (For Tomorrow)

Hello, today I'm going to show you the makeup and hair I'm planning on wearing for Halloween. Its a great last minute look as I had all of this and didn't need to buy anything new. The items used your most likely to already own otherwise you can purchase them for an inexpensive amount. Hope you enjoy.

First I'm juts going to apply a foundation that's slightly lighter than my natural skin tone to make me appear paler than I actually am. Here I'm using 'Revlon's Photo Ready foundation' in the shade '004 Nude'. I have to admit for my skin type I don't find this to be a great concealer it would suit much better for people with oily skin but it'll do for Halloween. I just loaded 2 pumps onto my hand and blended it in a circular motion all over my face using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

Now just for a slight more coverage I'm applying my holy grail concealer, 'Collection Ever Lasting Perfection', in the shade 'Medium 3'. I just dot this where I have any redness or scaring from blemishes. I don't apply this under my eyes, which you'll find out why later. Again I bland this in using my Expert Face Brush, as I find it gives the best coverage.

Now I just like to powder my face, to set the foundation and concealer. However I don't apply to much of this as I don't want my skin looking overly matte. I prefer my skin to have a dewy look to it. Here I'm using my Collection Pressed Powder in the shade 'Tender Touch 02'.

Now here's why I didn't apply any concealer under my eyes. Taking a white pencil eye liner draw a half circle from one and of your eye to the other, try to keep it around the same size as your eyes to make it look even. Also line your water line. The one I'm using is 'Maybelline's expression Kajal gentle precision eyeliner' in the shade '35 white'. I love this product it applies lovely on the water line, its so creamy and pigmented, and you could do this with one coat.

Then fill in the circle with the pencil and smoothen it out using your fingers. This makes a good base when applying eye shadow. 

Now taking a flat shaded brush here I'm using this one by Real Techniques. Pack on as much white eye shadow as possible don't be shy here, as we want this to be super white. Place it on top of the eye pencil we just did, until you have a consistency your happy with. Then place it on your lid and blend out using a clean brush.

Next take a black eye pencil and lightly draw the outline of the white eye line. Be extra gentle when doing this so is you make a mistake its easy to wipe away. But if you do make a mistake don't worry as this is just a trace line were creating. Do this to both eyes until your happy with the shape.

Then go over the black eye pencil either using a liquid or pen eye liner. I used a pen as I found it easier to get the precision. This particular one is from Seventeen, and its called the 'Make Your Mark Precision Eyeliner Pen'. Once you've completed the outline feel free to add as little or as many eyelashes as you like. I only did a few and made then quite cartoon looking, as I didn't want it to look too perfect. I then lined my upper lash line with the pen very lightly just to make my lashes appear thicker.

Yay! eye's are done now were going to make the stitched mouth. First were going to do the same as we did for the eyes and using the same black eye pencil get the shape your happy with, try and get each side as symmetrical to the other as possible. When your happy with the shape go over the line with your eye liner pen, and add some lines or crosses to look like the stitches.

Finally apply generous coats of your favorite mascara. Be sure to apply lots and if you can/want to apply fake lashes, we want our lashes to appear really 'doll like', I used two coats of benefits they're real mascara. However don't apply any mascara to your bottom lashes as we want them to be as hidden as possible because we've created new ones.

However if you wanted this to be a complete drugstore look I'd recommend 'Rimmel Scandleyes' mascara, this is my favorite drugstore mascara I've tried.

Now what you want to do is take you concealer and apply it to both sides of you lips, this is so we can reshape our own lips to appear more doll like. I then smiled and dabbed this into my lips using my finger and I found it gave a better coverage.

Next using a Red Lip Liner, outline a small set of lips onto of your own. This makes the stitching look a lot more effective, and I think it just looks really cool! Then using the same lip liner rill in the outline. The reason I've used a lip liner rather than a lipstick is because lip liner's have a longer lasting power than lipsticks and we don't want your lips to start disappearing after eating all those sweets.

 Wahoo! Hair time. Were going to create to high bunches. I personally do this because it reminds be of a doll more than anything else I was to do with my hair, but if you don't want to do that feel free to do your hair however you like it. 

First I'm going to brush out all my hair to make sure all the knots are out. Then I'm going to split it down the middle and take each section to the top of my head and tie it off using a hairband.

Your hair should then look like this..

And you should be done. You can wear this look with pretty much anything. I think I'm going to wear it with some tights and a black skater skirt, not sure what top yet though.

How To | Top Knot

Today I'm going to show you how I create a top knot. I love wearing this on those days whee your running late, or just having a bad hair day. Now I have thin hair and most people struggle to make a top knot with thin hair, but I have a little trick I'm going to share with you.

First I put my hair in a high pony tail, this makes it easier for later. Try using a clear elastic or a hairband that a similar colour to your hair, we don't want to be able to see the band. I find the easiest way to get my hair in a high pony tail is to flip my hair upside down, gather my hair together and the flip it back to secure.

Here's my secret if you have thin hair. back comb your hair but don't be gentle really go for it until your hair looks like a complete mess (don't worry, it'll look fine in the end). Back combing your hair make each layer thicker, adding volume to it in seconds. To keep it in place add a firming hairspray over a volumising hairspray as these hold better and for a longer period of time.

Now you should have a super backcombed ponytail. Now gather this up and I like to secure  it all with a medium sized crocodile clip. But you can use any sort of clip that you find holds your hair best. I sometimes use bobby pins when my hair is feeling extra film but the backcombing sadly doesn't last all day. So a crocodile clip allows me to volumise it throughout the day, buy raising the clip every now and then. 

Finally you can now mess around with it, until your happy with how it looks I sometimes like to clip my fringe to the side with it, or pull a few sections out to frame my face. And you should be done.

This look takes a maximum of 5 mins and is perfect for something that looks like you've spent ages on it and it doesn't. I got a lot of compliments when I first wore it and I love the look of it.

I decided to recreate the look that I did on my eyes so here is a quick overrun of how I did my eyes. (By the way I have no other make-up on so excuse the skin..)

First I put on a light silver shade from an old eye shadow palette from Next. I used this as a base for my eye shadow.

Second I used my Sleek palette which I mention in a post here (If you would like a review of this let me know in the comments below).  I used the shade 'Thunder' on my crease and the shade 'Noir' on my outer corner.  

Lastly I used the shade 'Pillow talk' (which is white).  I used this on my inner corners and my brown bone for highlighting.

I straightened my hair using a Babyliss Hair Straightener which is very nice as it comes with 10 different heat settings.  

I used a VO5 Heat Protect Spray and a VO5 Heat Protect Serum

Whats In My Bag | autumn edition

I got this bag for Christmas last year and I still love it so much! Its not an overly large bag but I don't like to carry more than I need to. The bag is from Jasper Conran which they have in many department stores such as Debenhams and they also have their own website.

Firstly I have my purse which I also got last year as a gift for Christmas, its from River Island and is pretty big, I prefer to have larger purses than little ones because they have more individual pockets and I find it easier to find certain cards, notes, and receipts etc.

I then have some polo mints in the original flavor, I don't like the peppermint flavor ones so i only buy these, I like to keep these in my bag just for when I might be out for lunch or just want a fresher breath. I like to buy these in a pack of 5 from supermarkets because I always have them in my bag, I do end up saving money.

Next here I have my keys, which are an essential, not much to say about them they're lovely keys.

But I do have a key ring with the letter 'S' (for Sarah) that I bought a few years ago from London, i felt like a real tourist.

Now this was a great little gadget I ordered off ebay, what you do is charge this into your phone charger, and then when your out and your phone has low battery it charges your phone. Its really come in handy.

Next is a random little thing, just a hairband. But I do think every girl should carry round a hairband because I always seem to loose them or forget to have one on my wrist so I keep one in my bag just for emergencies.

This is a holder for my nail file, which is the best nail file I've ever used, I love painting and taking care of my nails (even though their not looking great here) but I was given this one for my birthday and I would definitely recommend it. Unfortunately when I was taking photos for this post I noticed that it had snapped. But I thought I'd include it because I am going to repurchase it, and I thought I'd let you know what I thought of it.

Now here I have my makeup bag, I like to take this around with me because I am very spontaneous and normally when I'm out I end up going out after or staying somewhere after. So then theirs always a chance i'll need to top up on my makeup or need it for the next day, I normally don't need everything in my makeup bag its normally just my powder and lipstick to re-apply throughout the day.

Next I always like to carry some form of hair brush or comb, again because I end up doing something after I've been out. Also because I have naturally wavy hair I do find that throughout the day, so I normally take something with me to make it look more presentable. I currently had a comb in my bag so that's what I thought I'd show you but I sometimes carry an actual brush.

Now this is something that I find I really need throughout autumn and winter, a lip balm. I noticed a lot of beauty guru's on YouTube raving about these so I thought I'd try one, and I love it. This flavor is 'caramel cream', and it smells unbelievable I just literally want to eat this (but please don't if you buy this, haha!). The texture of these lip balms are so creamy and last for a really long time on your lips. I would really recommend these. 

This again is a real essential for me throughout the colder months, a hand moisturizer and this is my favorite one I've ever tried, this one is the soap and glory hand food. This leaves your skin just feeling lovely and moisturized, but what I really love about this product is that it doesn't leave a greasy residue and it dries really quickly but leaves your hands still feeling soft. Also the smell of this product is just like all of the soap and glory products, it smells amazing. I really think everyone who gets dry hands should buy this its so worth the money.

Next product is my body splash from Victoria Secret and these last for ages, I use this daily and have only used around a third of it. My sister bought this for me when she went shopping because I didn't go shopping as I went to France to see my Nan and Grandad. (Bless her) and i love the scent (she knows me so well). Even though this is quite a summery scent I haven't yet found a autumn scent that I like more than this, to stop using this one.

Review | Mark Hill Sea Salt Wave Spray

I purchased this product earlier this year for the summer, because I've been trying to grow out by hair so i wanted it look look curly/wavy with adding any heat to it, so i thought I'd give this product a go, and I decided to so a review on it and let you know what I thought.

When I was in Boots looking at the different types of sea salt spray that was available, I noticed some were quite pricey, and i didn't really want to spend that much on a spray when a previous one (that had been discontinued) that I purchased was around £6. I then saw this one (mainly from the colour!) and I saw it was only £5ish so I thought I'd give it a try.

The first time I used this product what I first noticed when spraying it into my hair was the smell. This spray to me is like holiday in a bottle, it smells very sweet and fruity,its defiantly a very summery scent. I love fruity smells so i then obviously loved the smell of this product. 

However the product just didn't effect my hair in any other way apart from it smelling like the Caribbean. I tried everything like scrunching it, or twirling it around my finger, then spraying more in, and it literally just looked the same jut a bit messy from the scrunching.

The product instructed on the back to 'spray on either dry or damp hair. Spray in and just let your hair dry into shape. If it needs a little help, twist sections around your finger and leave to dry'. I did not spray this into my hair while it was still wet purely because I thought it would be a waste of product if I don't dry my hair it dry's wavy, so I wasn't going to use the product when it wasn't needed.

Overall i was very disappointed with this product, its not that it wont work for everyone it just didn't work on my hair, I think it was a waste of money and wont be repurchasing it, I think next time I may go for the pricier products as I find they may work best on me. By all means go and buy this product if you like it I don't want to make anyone think they shouldn't by it if they have before and its worked, it just didn't work on me. 

I will use up this product and make my hair smell lovely and summery, (might bring England some better weather!) but I wont repurchase it.

If anyone knows any better alternatives for 'sea salt spray' let me know in the comments please.
